THE FABULIST

What is 'The Fabulist?'

The Fabulist is a musical project rooted in folk, reaching into the realm of 'theatrical folk.' Jeffrey Popiel (Juniperus Music) has written a dynamic set of songs by pursuing Aesop's fables. With such timeless and diverse Greek folk tales, Popiel has created a distinct variety of genres including ambient folk, quirky folk pop, country waltz and blues. As the Fabulist plays each song with a classical guitar, he sings behind his custom animal masks, changing voices as he moves between them. On occasion, the Fabulist will perform with bass woodwind accompaniment, including bass clarinets and/or bassoon as well as a set of shadow puppetry. Playful in nature, the Fabulist intends to bring smiles to light-hearted audiences, and to intrigue all others.
